VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

In April of 2004, the Lord burdened us to minister to the residents in Payatas. Having children of our own, the sight of the children who do not know about the love of Jesus moved us to arrange a Vacation Bible School ministry in the area. In April of 2004, the principal of one of the local public schools allowed us to use an auditorium to teach the children for a week. Three hundred children and teenagers attended. Because many families cannot afford to purchase school supplies for their children when classes open in the month of June, the Lord led us to provide a minimal amount of school supplies for each child who completed the program. As word spread, more and more students and parents attended every year.

But because of the hundreds of thousands of residents in the area, ministering to a few hundred children was not enough. In 2007, in partnership with a church in North Carolina, 5,000 students and parents attended the VBS. More than three hundred parents were saved through the event.

In 2008, the Lord provided for 10,000 students. Three large public schools were used and two hundred workers were employed for the monumental task. By the grace of God, 10,570 attended the VBS and 770 parents attended classes and professed salvation.

The Vacation Bible School is a faith-based ministry. Donations designated for this project allow our church to teach and feed the students four times (three sessions and one graduation service). Including the school supplies, it costs $2.50 for each child who attends. This year, we are in need of partners who will help us hold another VBS. The donations will determine how many students will be taught and benefit from God's Word in the VBS.
